Judges 15:15-19. Jeremiah 6:16.
While the privilege of modern technology sometimes makes our lives easier, it doesn’t always make them better. In this day in age, we are so consumed with responsibilities, aided by our societal advancements, that we forget to plug in with the past. May we never forget those who paved the way for our Apostolic movement. Jeremiah wrote “Thus saith the Lord, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls…”. Always remember those who have come before us and paved the way so that we know how to worship God in spirit and in truth.
In the midst of all the changes we are constantly facing, whether that be through relationships, friendships, families, church, work, technology etc., our God never changes (Hebrews 13:8)! He is the only constant we can count on to always keep His promises!
In Judges 15, we find Sampson using the jawbone of a donkey to slay 1,000 men. We would never think such a peculiar item would be able to withstand those with swords and shields. However, after the men were slain, Sampson discarded the jawbone and went on his way. Later, we find Sampson so thirsty that he is crying out to God asking why he would work such a miracle through him just to let him die of thirst. Once again, God used the discarded jawbone Sampson had just used and made a hollow place for water to appear. Many religious institutions today have discarded the spiritual weapons God has given us. So many have lost spiritual battles because they discarded the things they needed in order to win the fight. We are in a constant battle, every single day! We must rediscover those things we have thrown aside and ready ourselves to fight the good fight of faith; to slay our flesh and the adversary of our souls daily!
I challenge you to rediscover the too often discarded weapons of God that are essential to our spiritual fight:
- Faith
- The Name of Jesus
- The Blood
- Sincere Prayer
- Prayer in the Holy Ghost
- Speaking in tounges
- Fasting
- The headge of Holiness
- Rightous living
- Sharing the gospel- the good news
- Giving
There’s always gonna be another fight… why not win with the whole armor of God!!!! Amen.
